QA Engineering · Release Management · Banking & Fintech

Someone has to decide whether it ships. In banking, that's been me for 13 years.

I plan and run the releases that can't fail — core banking, payments, account opening — and I build the QA process that gets them there. Citi. HSBC. Banorte. AXA. UL Solutions.

Now taking freelance and contract work, and open to remote roles.

The record

Selected work

UL Solutions

Senior QA Engineer / Cutover Manager 2025

Multisite enterprise deployment of a consumer product testing portal. I introduced AI-assisted test design and defect clustering, then rebuilt triage around it — and mapped risk and dependencies across the cross-functional teams feeding the release.

  • Bug backlog −40% in six weeks
  • SOX / PCI audit, zero critical findings
  • Visual AI regression across sites

HSBC

Release Manager & Senior QA Lead — via Globant 2021—2022

Global banking application live in eight-plus countries. I owned release planning, cutover execution, hotfix deployment and rollback procedure for a platform where a bad night is a headline.

  • 10+ releases, zero major incidents
  • App store rating 4.2 → 4.7
  • Senior QA → Lead → Release Manager in 13 months

Citi

Release Manager & Senior QA Engineer — via Globant 2018—2025

Consumer banking mobile app, then the account opening platform and its automated validation and approval workflows. Seven years on the same client, moving from manual tester to running the release.

  • 500+ test cases, AI-generated edge cases
  • New app version launched at 4.6
  • 15+ device configurations under test

Banorte

Senior QA Tester — via Cinte / IBM 2013—2014

Core banking on AS/400 (IBM i). ATM transaction flows, service integration and 5250 interfaces — the layer most testers never touch and every bank still runs on.

  • 300+ banking services validated
  • Zero post-release defects
  • SQL · SOAP UI · RPG / COBOL

How I can help

Freelance & contract
Fractional

Release & cutover management

Release planning, go/no-go criteria, cutover runbooks, rollback plans and deployment coordination — part-time, for teams that ship big and have nobody who has done it before.

Two to four weeks

QA audit & strategy

Where quality is actually breaking down, what to test and what to stop testing, and a 90-day plan your team can run without me.

Setup & enablement

AI-augmented QA

Putting AI where it earns its keep: test design, defect clustering, log analysis, visual regression. With the guardrails that keep it from generating confident nonsense.

Hands-on

UAT & regression for fintech

API and end-to-end testing, UAT coordination with business stakeholders, traceability and evidence packs that survive an audit.

What I need from you

  • A link to the live site, staging build or TestFlight/APK
  • Test credentials, if the flow requires login
  • Which screen or flow to focus on (or "you tell me" for Complete)

Questions people ask

Do you need access to my codebase?
No — just the running app or a staging link. I test it the way a real user would hit it.
What if my product needs more than 3 screens?
That's the Complete package — I scope it on a 15-minute call so the price matches the actual size.
How do I get the results?
A PDF report, same format as the sample above: findings ranked by severity, evidence and a recommended fix for each.

Dragonflai Events

An AI event-planning product I designed, built, tested and shipped myself. It generates a timeline, a budget and a digital invitation with RSVP, guided by an in-app planner assistant. Live, with real users and Stripe payments.

I ran it the way I run a client release: milestone branches, deploy previews, a documented findings log per version, and a beta program with real testers. Fifteen years of telling engineers what broke, spent on my own product.
